Week 3 has already come and gone!

While most of the team spent the day at the farm helping set a new jumping course and having lessons, Joey Roman started the competition week on Wednesday with his own, Last Hoorah, in the Pre-Green Hunter 3 & 4-year-old division. Getting more and more confident each time they enter the ring, Joey piloted his young mount to a win in the Under Saddle and great ribbons over fences.

The equitation got underway on Friday with the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) Hunter and Jumper phases. Sofia Moskowitz and Dark Night DC took 4th place in Section A of the WIHS Hunter Phase.

Lillian Soroken and her new mount Hanakara started Saturday morning off with the best kind of blues taking home the win in both classes of the $1,500 Children’s Jumper 15-17. Caroline Mirts and Kempo Caretino Boy jumped in the ribbons as well to a 6th place finish. In the $1,500 Medium Junior Jumper, Joey Roman piloted Billy Skipper to 6th place, before heading over to the hunter ring to ride Cascatero to 3rd place in the Large Junior Hunter 16-17.

Success in the equitation ring continued as Sunday morning welcomed riders to compete in the ASPCA Maclay and the USEF/ Dover Saddlery Hunter Seat Medal. Jordan Gibbs and her trusty partner, Cent 15 took the blue in Section A of the ASPCA Maclay while Caroline Mirts and First VDL took 6th and Eve Westfall aboard Kasteel WS took 4th place in section B. In the USEF/ Dover Saddlery Hunter Seat Medal Section B, Sofia Moskowitz and Dark Night DC earned 4th place honors, and Eve and Kasteel WS jumped to another great round to take not only the class win but also secure their spot in the WEF Equitation Challenge at the end of the circuit!

Over in the jumper ring, Joe Craver and Korino Von Bueren jumped double clear to finish 8th place in a competitive $10,000 NAL Low Junior Jumper Classic. Lillian Soroken and Hanakara closed out week 3 with a hat trick in the Children’s Jumpers as they earned their third tri-color in a row in the division!

Not to be outdone by the equitation and jumpers, Sophia Delellis and You Otto Know put in great rides in the Children’s Hunter 14 and under clinching 4th place in the over fences Sunday afternoon.
