How are we already approaching WEF 10?! Although week 9 was another great week for the Beacon Hill Team, we still can’t believe how quickly the winter season comes and goes! There have been so many great times, laughs, learning moments, and experiences thus far and we have high expectations for the remaining weeks of the season.

Tuesday, Beacon Hill welcomed Chris Kappler to the farm for a great morning of lessons. Students focused on grid work, adjusting pace, and jumping off shorter turns on a circle. It was a pleasure to have him work with us- thank you so much, Chris!

As usual, Friday welcomed equitation riders to Wellington International to get started with the medal classes. Harper Phipps and HH Casey Jones and Lillian Soroken and Dicaprio 3 started the week off with 1st and 3rd place respectively in the EMO Insurance/USHJA 3’3’ Jumping Seat Medal. In the Platinum Performance/USEF Talent Search 2* Sofia Moskowitz and Dark Night DC jumped to 5th place and Dylan Bazaar took 6th aboard Cento Chico. Equitation horse and rider combinations finished out the day with the Washington International Horse Show Hunter and Jumper Phases. Dylan laid down extremely consistent rounds aboard Cento Chico to pick up 3rd place in section A of the Hunter Phase, 4th in the Jumper phase, and 4th overall for section A.

Harper Phipps rode HH Casey Jones to 4th in the WIHS Hunter Phase Section B and 3rd overall. In the jumper phase, Sofia Moskowitz and Dark Night DC closed out the class with 4th place in the jumper phase of Section B and Caroline Mirts clinched 6th place overall for Section A with First VDL.

Eve Westfall and Cisca VH Lindenhof Z concluded the day with a 3rd place in the $1,500 Medium Junior Jumpers!

Our riders persevered through the heat on Saturday with Sophia Delellis and You Otto Know jumping 1st and 4th in the Younger Children’s Hunters to start the day. In the Denemethy ring, Lillian Soroken and her speedy partner, Hanakara took another blue ribbon in the $1,500 Children’s Jumper 15-17. Harper Phipps continued her equitation success with a 4th place over fences and 3rd place on the flat with Topper in section A of the 15-17 equitation.

Sunday morning started off with more blues as Sofia Moskowitz rode Dark Night DC to 1st place in Section A of the ASPCA Maclay aboard Dark Night DC. This win qualifies her for the WEF Equitation Championship during week 11! Jordan Gibbs and her trusty partner Cent 15, followed closely behind Sofia taking the red ribbon in the section. In section A of the Dover Saddlery/ USEF Hunter Seat Medal, Harper Phipps and HH Casey Jones earned 6th place with Rylynn Conway and Clover picking up 3rd in section B.

Joey Roman and Cascatero collected more ribbons in the Large Junior Hunters 3’6” 16-17 taking 3rd and 5th place over fences this week.

Week 9 came to an end with Lillian Soroken and Hanakara jumping another competitive round in the $2,500 NAL/ WIHS Children’s Jumper 15-17 Classic!
